Why is everyone so concerned with skin care make up?

It seems like every time you turn around these days you see sort of advertisement about skin care products or makeup. You can’t even turn on the television without almost instantly seeing a model telling you to buy the new latest face washes, creams, and makeup. Most of the world is obsessed with skin care and makeup and their just all around appearance. But where does this obsession come from, and is it unhealthy?

The media

Today’s media is fascinated with the look and appearance of perfection. Models are hired and paid large amounts of money to advertise the newest skin care and makeup products. They are hired to portray the illusion of perfection in order to make average people want to purchase them. All over the world you have people in envy of all these models in magazines, movies and commercials. Why? Because the media makes them out to be flawless. Even though most people will never look like those models it still doesn’t stop them from wanting to go out and spend money on the skin care and makeup products that they advertise.

Is this obsession healthy?

Although it is always a good thing to take good care of your skin and many of the skin care and makeup products do work well to help with this, it can start being unhealthy when taken to a certain extent. When it comes to the point where you find yourself spending most of both your time and money on skin care and makeup products that’s when it can start being unhealthy. You should always make sure to find a healthy balance for everything in your life, including skin care and makeup.

Love yourself for who you are

It’s important to remember that you are never going to look like the models on TV and even that they themselves are usually covered in makeup and even airbrushed or photo shopped. It is a good thing for you to take excellent care of your skin using skin care and makeup, just don’t let yourself get caught up in all the media trying to push the illusion of perfection on you in order for you to spend money on products with false hopes of someday looking like these done up models.
